Thursday 26th September 2019 at 2pm: The meeting will start with a general discussion about talks and other activities that people would like to see during the next few months. This will be followed by an extended photo-sharing session. Members are encouraged to show photos on the theme of "Fairs and festivals", and photos from your travels and other activities during the summer are also very welcome.

Thursday 23rd January 2020 at 2pm: This meeting will feature "Bird photography" and we are fortunate to be able to welcome eminent ornithologist Jonathan Elphick to tell us about his work and to comment on our bird photos. Jonathan is a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London and of the Linnean Society of London and has published a number of best-selling books on birds and other wildlife. His many interests include the cultural significance of birds, the representation of birds in art, and wildlife conservation.

Thursday 27th February 2020 at 2pm:  Kris Frank will give a talk about "Looking at photos". He has provided a summary of his talk:

What makes a good Photo ? And who am I to Judge anyway ?
Can we learn to appraise a photo, or is it innate ?
How do YOU appraise a photo now? Was it the same as a child ?
Do other Cultures appraise all photos differently ? or some photos not ?

Or if most of us agree WHAT is a better photo,
do we really know WHY we think it is ?
Can we try to learn from each other on Feb 27th ?

We will be looking at some photos and try to see why we think some are better than others and whether some principles emerge that are useful and that we can use to improve our photo composition out in the real world, as well as critically considering past ‘rules’ of Photography.

Kris then plans to briefly demonstrate three phone apps:

ONE that could save your life while out walking

ONE that can get you a Photography magazine free

ONE that can manipulate your photos in a fun artistic way that (if you have them) your grandkids will love !

This will be followed by photo-sharing, which this month has the two themes: "Winter sunrises and sunsets" and "Patterns".
