OTHER U3A PHOTO GROUPS

It's interesting to see how other U3A Photography Groups operate. Some groups have quite extensive web-sites which often contain information about their past, present and future meetings, plus collections of photos by their members, and sometimes tutorials about different aspects of photography.

A useful place to start is the U3A Photography Network, which is based within the Salisbury branch of U3A. This contains lots of interesting ideas about photography projects, and also a very extensive set of mini-tutorials about all kinds of photography techniques.

The Buxton and District U3A has two photography groups: first, the Beginners' Group which gives their members a set of tutorials about the basics of digital photography (you can download the slides that go with each tutorial); and second, the Digital Group, which meets to discuss photos on set themes (you can look at their gallery of photos in each theme) .

The Photo Group of the Chiltern U3A have meetings where they share and discuss their photos on set themes; they also have separate meetings where the emphasis is on camera and post-processing techniques.

The Guildford U3A Photo Group have their own web-site, where they tell you their programme for the year, their members' gallery, mini-tutorials about various topics, etc.

The Milton Keynes U3A has no less than three separate photography groups: first, Photography from Beginning to End  whose aim is to help members to learn the principles and techniques of photography; second, Photography for Fun, where the emphasis is more on going out to take photos and sharing and discussing members' photos; finally, they have Photography Advanced which is for those who have mastered the basics and want to broaden their horizons and explore new techniques. You can find the web pages of these three groups by following the links on the web-site of the Milton Keynes U3A.

The South East London U3A Photo Group have a Flickr account, where they show photos by members of their group.

The Yealm branch of U3A has a photography group called The Art of Photography whose web-site highlights post-processing with Lightroom, Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements. They have a small gallery of photos by group members.
